Our Role
Our holistic services go above and beyond energy auditing and project specification by integrating curriculum development and delivery to engage students in the energy projects, providing hands-on, real world training opportunities.
One way we are able to implement facilities related work at the school and district level, is through Climate Corps Fellows. To learn more about bringing on a Climate Corps Fellow, visit here.

Case Study: San Rafael City Schools Fellow
Climate Corps Fellow Rosa Mason is a Sustainability Coordinator for San Rafael City Schools. Her role is to work with the Director of Facilities on projects that include: installation of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVSE), Zero Waste plans, Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) certification for the Districts' building projects in design phase, solar feasibility, and Prop 39 initiatives to retrofit and upgrade to more efficient mechanical and electric systems.
Rosa's favorite project so far:
Working on the installation of EVSE. So far her team has secured over $150K in grant funding (with more on the way to install 58 ports between 4 different campuses). She also has enjoyed working on the CHPS certification, in which she meets with architects that are designing new construction and modernizations. Through this process she has gained a lot of insight into what they need to consider when designing for optimal learning environments and their experiences with large scale project management with many stakeholders.
The results:

The results:
- If the charging stations inspire just 5 people across the District to buy electric cars, it would divert 100 lbs of GHG emissions/year
- Installing more efficient equipment through Prop 39 will save the District $67,000/year
- The solar installation will produce 2,255 kWp/year (equivalent to 92% of the District's annual electricity use)
- The Zero Waste plan is estimated to divert between 79-88% of the high schools' waste (~1500 cubic yards of waste diverted per year)
