The 2023 Earth Day Challenge is an exciting opportunity for middle and high school students to inspire sustainable change in their community while learning about topics like air quality and waste management. Challenge activities help participants develop leadership skills and can be completed as a class, in small groups/clubs, or even individually!

Participate in Bilingual Challenges and Run a Campaign
Students will learn more about how people have impacted our environment through researching local and global sustainability topics, and then use that knowledge to launch a sustainability campaign. Inspire your students to become a sustainability leader in their community! All challenge materials are available in English and Spanish. |

Receive a Sustainability Specialist Certificate and Win Prizes!
Boost your resume with a Sustainability Specialist Certificate. Each student to complete all three parts of the Earth Day Challenge will receive a certificate from SEI’s Energize Schools program via email. The three best campaigns are eligible to win money for their school, classroom or club to continue supporting their sustainability efforts! In March, we will also begin to host weekly raffles for participating students for a chance to win a $25 Amazon gift card!*See below for prize eligibility requirements.* |

* The 2023 Earth Day Challenge is open to all middle school and high school students, teachers, and administrators. Anyone that completes all four challenges will receive a Sustainability Specialist Certificate! However, to be eligible for the prizes, your school must be within San Diego County, Southern California Edison (SCE) service area, or the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD), which includes: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, southwestern Solano, and southern Sonoma counties.
