Electric Vehicles and Sustainable Transportation Curriculum

In 2017, Governor Jerry Brown signed Assembly Bill 1082 (AB 1082) into law. This bill allows California utility companies to create pilot projects to install EV chargers at school sites and educational institution across their service areas, giving priority to disadvantaged communities.
SEI’s new Electric Vehicle and Sustainable Transportation program is available to teachers throughout PG&E’s service area through Summer 2023.

Designed for Grades K-12, our curriculum center the campus as a living lab to explore electric vehicles and other topics in sustainable transportation. Our NGSS-aligned activities and lessons aim to engage students around new transportation infrastructure by activating their curiosity and understanding of electric vehicles and other forms of sustainable transportation.

This module consists of four units: one for each grade band K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. In each grade band, students learn about how the transportation sector is related to climate change and air pollution, evaluate solutions for more sustainable transportation, and develop their understanding of how communities can make change for a more sustainable future.

In addition to the curriculum, Energize Schools is offering live virtual and asynchronous professional development workshops on how to access the curriculum. The asynchronous workshop consists of videos discussing how to use the curriculum and walkthroughs of various activities. The Energize Schools team will also be available throughout the school year to provide instructional support and planning for teachers.

These resources are available to all schools within Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E)’s service territory.
