Home Solar Analysis
This curriculum is comprised of four lessons, each designed to provide introductory instruction and projects, with additional in-depth research opportunities and optional activities that may extend the curriculum. In Lesson 1, students will learn about climate change and the impact humans have on the carbon cycle, and how changes in the carbon cycle alter the influence of the greenhouse gas effect and case climate change. In Lesson 2, students will explore the fundamentals of energy. In lesson 3, students learn the basics of solar power as well as solar system design. In Lesson 4, students will calculate the size a solar system needs to be in order to offset current consumption and will identify an optimal roof to install solar and determine the impacts of tilt, orientation, and shading on the panel.
This curriculum package includes:
- Includes four interactive lessons designed for the high school level (grades 9-12)
- Provides hands-on training in solar energy and solar system design.
- Addresses Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core State Standards
