Zero Waste Programs

Helping schools and communities achieve their zero waste goals

SEI’s Zero Waste team helps schools implement sustainable waste reduction and recycling programs in order to comply with mandatory state laws. We work with schools and communities to build a culture of environmental stewardship, create opportunities for project-based learning, and save money on refuse hauling services.

SEI’s Zero Waste team works in collaboration with and is funded by the Zero Waste Schools Program.

Since creating the Zero Waste Marin Schools Program in 2015, Zero Waste Marin has partnered with SEI to help implement the program and reach their diversion goals. Our support in Marin County reaches 20 schools and 11,000 students each year.

Student Leaders Driving Zero Waste Success

SEI’s Zero Waste School, Strawberry Point Elementary, earned the Platinum Certification for its outstanding waste-reduction infrastructure, practices, and education. A Platinum-certified school is unprecedented for both the Zero Waste Marin Schools program and SEI; Strawberry Point is the first of Marin County schools to reach this sustainability caliber.
Zero Waste Team member Jessica Carver shares more about this exciting achievement.
