SEI’s Wind Energy teacher training challenges teachers engineering and scientific knowledge to design the most effective wind turbine blade. In addition to designing wind blades, teachers will evaluate the comparative environmental, economic, and social impacts of wind as a renewable energy resource. Attendees will be fully prepared to implement this hands-on project in a virtual or in-person setting!
Highlights - Design and test wind turbine blade models - Understand the pros and cons of wind as a renewable energy resource - Learn how to flexibly apply SEI’s Wind Energy Curriculum in your classroom |
SEI’s Green Building teacher training will prepare you to lead a comprehensive Green Building design project with your students. The training will cover benefits, design and features, existing programs and initiatives, and the implementation of green building measures to reduce social, environmental, and economic impacts. Through designing their own Green Building, attendees will gain skills directly applicable to teaching about green building and architecture careers, gaining an ability to identify and evaluate green building sites and features while reducing resource consumption, operating costs, and improving indoor air quality.
Highlights - Complete a Life Cycle Assessment - Design and Build Green Building Mode - Learn how to flexibly apply SEI’s Green Building Curriculum in your classroom |

Previous Virtual Teacher Trainings
The Energize Schools team has hosted virtual teacher trainings on our curriculum units including: climate change, energy auditing, renewable energy, air quality, ecological economics and climate policy, and solar design. These units include curriculum and instructional support needed to engage students in virtual, in-person, or hybrid settings. Our curriculum is aligned with NGSS, Common Core, and CTE standards.

Discovering Watersheds through Experiential Learning Training
With support from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Bay Watershed Education and Training (B-WET) program, SEI is excited to offer the “Discovering Watersheds through Experiential Learning” virtual teacher training. In this half-day training, we covered select distance-learning adapted lessons from our Watersheds and Public Water Systems curriculum and discussed how to engage students in a hands on exploration of their watershed and public water systems. Student activities include watershed modeling, constructing a sand filter, ArcGIS mapping, and watershed stewardship action planning, all adapted to a distance learning format. If you are interested in the recording of this training, request the recording here.
